Troop Committee Minutes - Nov 09

Sorry for the delay in posting the minutes from the troop committee meeting from November.

1) PLC report

            All members of PLC present

            Communications remain an issue- work on calling members

            Campout this weekend. Cooking is focus; 4 mi in and out.

            Next meeting MBs

            Duke vs GA Tech

            MB College also on Nov 14

            Nov 17 meeting, one pot cook-off.; drug awareness training

            Nov 24 –MBs

            Dec 1- Teambuilding

            Dec – Service Project; Food Bank

            Dec 15- Holiday potluck

2)      Scoutmaster Report

a.       PLC meeting on Tuesday- still some interest in ski trip; Nathan Saper is checking into it. Will need adults. MLK day in Jan

b.      Lorenzo and Joey G are looking into a lock-in @ vertical edge

c.       Feb- Holly Shelter

d.      Eprep going out to Hillsboro to help with disaster scenarios

e.       MBs moving on

f.       3 den chiefs helping pack: Zack, van Acker, Bowman

g.      Jim Morris has been a great help to Kevin

3)      Advancement Report

a.       MBs progresses

b.      Clayton Wood had scoutmaster conference for First Class

c.       Will need BOR;

d.      Work on Camping MB on campouts

e.       Axe Yard on Campout?

4)      Treasurer Report

a.       Quiet, except for expenditures around Seabase, Philmont

b.      Who is collecting for campouts?, esp Nov campout?

                                                              i.      Kevin and Phil will collect.

                                                            ii.      Everybody seems to be paying on a timely basis.

                                                          iii.      Are we breaking even/collecting correct amounts?

                                                          iv.      Popcorn-19 boys sold ~218/scout’ Net sales ~$4100; expected profit of $1200. Troop will take 5% and rest to scout accounts- Motion passed

1.      Issue

a.       Late turn in of orders- Have turn in week early.

                                                            v.      Football- Duke wants money bound by denominations

6)      New Business

a.       New District Chairman starting Jan 1

b.      Spring Camporee- Admin person found;  Steve Wilkins Mark Sequora program

                                                              i.      Troop needs an activity

c.       Tom Beach may have volunteered troop for 2011 Spring Camporee

                                                              i.      Decision will not be made until Fall 2010.

                                                            ii.      Last time 5 yrs ago. Mtn man theme.

d.      Hiking MB coming up. Schedule dates tonight if possible (Scott) Dates for camping in spring not yet set.
